Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! I think I am in the minority when I say I really love Mother's Day. Probably even more so than my own birthday. It's just the right amount of attention, and so many others get to share the day with me! I love getting a handmade card from Autumn and dare I say I like that Adam is forced to truely spend one day appreciating my "job" and how hard I work for the family?? =) Not to say he doesn't already, but a whole day devoted to it ain't half bad!

As I woke up this morning and I was getting ready for church, I still can't believe I am a mom. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting on the stairs of my mom's house with my baby dolls, playing "church" and telling my inanimate dolls to knock it off or I was going to take them out into the "lobby" for misbehaving. Now, I sit on the pews at church with my very own little girl and another little guy on the way.

Where did the time go?

Who gave me permission to have kids? I mean, no interview process??

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a mom. It's a tough, tough job. Mentally, physically... Mentally... but the good days are so rewarding. I see Autumn using the things I've taught her and how much she learns just by watching me and doing the things I do.

It makes me think of what an amazing example my mother was to me, and of course, still is. I still could not be more grateful for having the opportunity to spend the first 7 months of Autumn's life with her. The things she taught me, the numerous times she called me down and how encouraging she was... Every first time mom needs someone like my mom!! She's been an amazing example as a mother, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as an overall good person. Just from watching her, I learned all the little things - letting someone with only a few items go ahead, talking to a stranger in the isle next to me, speaking up when I know something it wrong, or taking something back into the store because they forgot to charge me for something.

My mom has raised 5, dare I say AWESOME, kids. She did much of it on her own while my Dad was away or worked long hours and has passed down so much knowledge, but more importantly gets to enjoy the "fruits of her labors" as a Nana to her grandkids.

So, while I enjoy mother's day, it's not just about me. It's about my mom. My sister. My sister in laws, and all the beautiful ladies around me who inspire me to be a better mom! Happy Mother's Day =)
