She's growing up...

Last weekend Autumn came running into our room at 7:30 in the morning. This was unusual for 2 reasons: 1) Autumn doesn't wake up that early and 2) Autumn waits for us to come get her in the morning. I was convinced Adam had left the side of the crib down when he put her to bed the night before, so I didn't think too much of it.

That is, until she kept getting out of her crib that night. Every 20 minutes she would appear! Normally the only times she has ever climbed out of her crib was when she was really angry, but never just to climb out. This back and forth process continued for hours until she went to bed with me at 11:30. After a quick transfer into her bed around 12:30AM, she reappeared in our room at 5 something, to which she joined us in our bed - that was short lived as we can't do the co-sleeping thing. As you can imagine, we were not on time to 9AM church after so much interrupted sleep.

Things improved over this past week. She was still waking up much earlier than usual (7:30-8:30) but I wasn't having any trouble with her at night or during naps. Her middle of the night wake up calls have stopped, going on 3 nights anyway. We have stopped putting her crib rail up, so her climb out is easier/safer. The past 2 days she has slept in her normal time around 8:30-9:30 - which I have been grateful for!

This make me optimistic about her transition to a bed - since she can get out of her crib if she wants, but she still sleeps well for me. Adam's parents had offered at Christmastime to buy Autumn her big girl bed, we just didn't think we would need it so soon! I have a bed all picked out and hope to get everything ordered and purchased this weekend. I must admit I am a little excited about buying a comforter and sheets for her new big girl bed!

  1. I felt the same way about getting a bed for Ashlynne. I was lucky enough to find a toddler bed on Freecycle when we were moving, and a cute comforter set on Craigslist, so we only ended up spending $10. =) I'm excited for Autumn to get to transition! Hope it goes well. =)
