Our First Home: "Before" Pics

Now that we're finally the owners of our home I can put all the ideas I have head in my head for months into effect! Monday begins the priming and painting of the main floor, which you will see in the photos below. You can definitely consider these "before" images. I have big plans but you will just have to wait and see!

Hurray for fake wide angle lens pictures! :) These are composites of a few images so you can better see the scope of the rooms. You should be able to click each image to see a full size picture. As an added bonus, feel free to play "Where's Anthony?" in the images.

This is the view of the front of the house. There are 2 steps to get down to the front door, with the hall closet to the right in the entryway. The other door with my nephews backpack on it is our half bath. The hardwood is in great shape. The carpet is not... we'll be replacing it after I paint.

This is the opposite view, looking into the house from the front. The hardwood area will be our (my) office. We're going to replace that light fixture with a ceiling fan and I will put the chandelier in the dining area after I refinish it. The walls and color don't look bad in the images, but it's very dirty and a flat paint - not the best for kids. Notice the crown molding? Very sexy.

My kitchen! It's a really good size. This is the first on my list as far as renovations. New paint, hardware on the cabinets, painting the island black, refinishing the counter tops, new light fixtures, new appliances, etc. Eventually I would like to add crown molding to the cabinets but matching the stain could be tricky. I also have a nice size pantry there in the kitchen with lots of built ins.

A view from the opposite side of the kitchen showing the dining area. The wall you are looking at is going to be RED and sexy. You can see the stairs down to the basement - my nephew is very concerned there is no basement door like at Nana's.

So there you have it. Stay tuned! You'll just have to wait for more pics of the other levels and rooms. One thing at a time!

  3. Congrats and good luck with all the projects. I recommend getting the paint and primer in one for your red wall. I painted my laundry room red before we moved into our new house and it took 5 coats! I can't wait to see what you do with it all!
