Blizzard 2010!

We're up to 26" in the front yard and about 5 trees down in the backyard!

This was the scene last night about 11:30PM. It started coming down slowly around 2PM and picked up through out the night.

It's crazy how bright it is out at night when it's snowing.

This is what we found this morning.

A couple trees collapsed last night. My mom had wanted to cut them down, but our neighbors (in the picture) didn't want them removed. Karma. One tree snapped off and hit their garage and we're fairly certain 2 more trees are going to fall before the storm is over. The trees have just narrowly missed their house.

Oh hai! This is the view while I was trying to shovel out the walk to the door. This doesn't even fully illustrate the depth, as my feet pack down the snow I'm standing on. We measured 26" in the center of the yard.

  1. Holy crud!! That is a lot of snow! I can't say I'm jealous or anything... I'm loving that it rained here today and pretty much "melted" all of the crusty old snow that has been there forever. But, the winter definitely isn't over yet either! Good luck shoveling!

  2. Holy cow! I underestimated 26" until I saw the picture of you in it. That is exactly why I live in Texas. So, is everything cancelled? School, work, church, etc?

  3. Yep! School was canceled Thursday night before the snow even started Friday afternoon, church was canceled this morning and I wouldn't put it past the government to close down Monday. We have to meet with our loan officer to put the paperwork in to buy our house, so we'll be going out!

  4. We got over 30 inches here--we have pics of the kids sitting on top of the mailbox! :) Poor Joel had to do most of the work himself this year--I could only help for a little while before I pooped out. We are hoping the government shuts down tomorrow!
