3 more days til we close!

Here is a more recent picture of the house from the appraisal documents.
That tree in my yard is going to be one of the first things to go!

So much has transpired over the past few days and the next week is going to be even more jam packed.

I have never been so excited in my life to get this house! I am even more excited than when I got married, when I found out I was pregnant, and even when Autumn was born! Those were all awesome events in my life, but I don't think excited would have been the first word to solidly describe my emotions. I'm not as nervous about the house as I was about all those things. Sure, a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of debt is scary, but OH THE DECORATING!

The sellers have found a home or place to rent but they won't be able to move out before Tuesday, so they'll be renting back from us until the middle of March. That extra pocket change will be greatly appreciated!

For those of you who don't know, Adam was in a minor accident this week during his morning commute. He accidentally rear ended the back of a Ford F250 and the truck won... The car is in the shop as we speak. It was deemed unsafe to drive which means all of our rental car expenses will be covered until our rental reimbursement plan. We are so blessed that Adam was not driving his regular commuter car, which because of its age no longer carries collision coverage. Had he been driving our other car it would have been totaled and we would have picked up a second car payment which would just not be doable with our new budget.

Finances are looking good. I feel great about things which is not always a forefront emotion when talking about finances. It will be tight, but that's okay. It will be humbling and teach us to better live within our means. While Adam works full time to bring home a paycheck and support our needs, budgeting, finding deals to make our budget stretch, running a household and raising Autumn will be my full time job(s).  I look forward to the challenge!

Things are working out for us. We just feel so blessed. We've made great changes in our lives and we are being blessed for those choices.

  1. I am REALLY excited for your guys! You've had a lot of "firsts" over the past year, and first new home is a pretty exciting one, too. I can't wait for all of the decorating updates that are sure to be coming and to see everything you do to your new place. Save those pennies so you can load your Hobby Lobby shopping cart when you come down! =)
