2 Month Checkup

This was before she knew what was coming...

My babes had her 2 month old checkup today - even though her 2 month birthday came and went back before Christmas. It was a busy week and then she was sick, so we waited until this week. Everything checked out just fine. She weighed in at 10.8lbs (still smaller than my brother Joel when he was born) and 22.5" long.

I'm sure that nurses make a fuss over all the babies they see, but I'm going to disregard that knowledge and pretend my baby is extra special. She was smiley and giggly for everyone. I was waiting for the nurse to come back in when I heard outside the door "You have to come see this baby! She's the cutest baby in the world besides my own!" and then 3 additional nurses came in to "ooo" and "ahh" over her.

And then... the appointment took a turn for the worse.

Shot time.

I believe very strongly in the benefits of vaccinations, but that doesn't mean I like seeing my girl cry! I'm not used to it! The nurses coordinated their shots so that they each gave her a shot at the same time  - "Ready, 1, 2, 3." She was all smiley and happy - but then came the delayed reaction to the prick. I almost cried - I made the crying face, but no tears. Almost cried. She did much better than I - she calmed right down and was fine once I was allowed to pick her back up. What a champ! Seriously, most easy going baby. Still, seeing her bottom lip just curl and her little face turn red was brutal!

You would never know she had shots today. She has been her same, happy-go-lucky self.

I am such a proud mama.

  1. Autumn has now officially reached Claire's birth weight/ size. You are very brave--I took my mom the first time Jackson had to get shots--luckily she was in town. It gets a little easier...but only a little!

  2. Never fun to see your kids get shots, especially when they're babies, and they have no clue what's coming. Of course, I guess there's an advantage there because they're not nervous going in. Never fun, though, and the immunizations go a lot older than they used to. Jordan had to have a two-dose shot to start middle school last year. I just didn't get to pick him up to console him afterwards. =)

  3. I'm glad to hear she did so good! Shots stink (for us big people too!). She sure is a beautiful baby...love those big blues! And congrats on the house - hope everything works out great this time!
